"And he took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them,
saying, 'This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.'"
Luke 22:19 (ESV)

Our Lord said that to emphasize that He came as a human being. Because we all know that
human beings eat and drink, and we also know that human beings bleed and die, and that
He gave up His life for us. So when you eat, remember what He did for you so that you may
have life.

Jesus Christ and you are one.

"if we are faithless, he remains faithful — for he cannot deny himself."

"He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who conquers
I will give some of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone, with a new name written
on the stone that no one knows except the one who receives it." Revelation 2:17 (ESV)

"'Food is meant for the stomach and the stomach for food' — and God will destroy both one
and the other. The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord
for the body." 1 Corinthians 6:13 (ESV)

"It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken
to you are spirit and life." John 6:63 (ESV)

"Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness; as it is written, 'He gave them bread from heaven
to eat.' Jesus then said to them, 'Truly, truly, I say to you, it was not Moses who gave you the
bread from heaven, but my Father gives you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is he
who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.' They said to him, 'Sir, give us this bread
always.'

Jesus said to them, 'I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever
believes in me shall never thirst.'" John 6:31-35 (ESV)

"Do not labor for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures to eternal life,
which the Son of Man will give to you. For on him God the Father has set his seal."
John 6:27 (ESV)

Why did Jesus have to die?

Our Lord died because of the sins of the people. If they had not sinned, there was no reason for
Him to die. But because they have sinned, Christ died to set us free from the bondage of sin.

"The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, 'Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!'" John 1:29 (ESV)

" Jesus answered them, 'Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin.'"
John 8:34 (ESV)

"So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed." John 8:36 (ESV)
